The Batignolles district has a village feel. “In my capital village…”
The origin of the name “Batignolles” could be the Latin word “batillus” meaning “mill”, or it could be derived from the Provençal word “bastidiole” meaning “small farm”.
What did I see in Batignolles? I didn’t see a mill or a small farm, let alone the “costaud” of Les Batignolles!

But I did see the English-style gardens of the Square des Batignolles. And in this garden, a lodgepole pine and a pond. I saw a little boy watching a duck, then two older children playing with a dog near a Wallace fountain.
And finally, I saw the object of everyone’s envy, the Plein Coeur boutique. The cakes (sublime) are presented under cloche. I chose the chocolate charlotte.
